Original Content More Important Than Ever

Search Engine Optimization posterYou already know that instinctively, even if you know nothing what-so-ever about the Internet and Internet marketing. Original content is the life blood of your website and blog. Without unique content you cannot raise your site to the top search results.

Most experts suggest that you need at least 20 blog posts each month, and then after you’ve established traffic you can cut down your blog posts to about 5 to 10 a month.I have found that to be true for my clients.

Clients who work very hard to get their ranking up, adding a lot of content over a period of about a year, then slowing it down a bit have better and longer term results than clients who throw up tons of content in one day, or just do one blog post a week that first year.

Don’t get me wrong, one blog post a week will get you where you’re going eventually, but one every couple days will get you there faster. Sticking a lot of content up all at once will set off alarms with the search engines, so it’s best to have the slow and steady plan.

Naturally, your site needs a lot of content to get started though, and that’s okay.

You’re going to need several pages of content to get your site online such as Home Page Content, About Page Content, and so forth. These pages need to be planned and thought out in such a way that every word put on that page is strategically placed. Don’t hurry through these pages just to get something slapped up. Yes, perfection is not necessary, but give these pages some serious thought. If you’re not sure what to write, that’s where an expert like myself comes in handy. (hint, hint)

If you don’t have an expert to ensure that any page has the right content on it, be sure to do your research.

  • Know Your Audience
  • Ensure You Have an Updated Website Theme
  • Understand Your Niche
  • Research Keywords
  • Tell Your Story
  • Remember: It’s All About Them (Audience)

If you do these things, you’ll be able to write a much better Home Page or About Page, or really any page of your website. Aside from textual content, ensure that the images you use on your site are reflective of your words. You want any image you use to add to your words, not take away from them. There are numerous types of content that you can place on your website and in the hands of your prospects and consumers. Some can be PLR (private label rights) but for your blog, you should put new on-topic original content.
